Design decisions

Each of these came out of researching how this trade actually sells, not from a style preference.

  • 01

The flagship feature is a genuinely live estimator: distance band × home-size multiplier × add-ons, recomputed in the browser on every change, with no backend and no page reload. On a static export this is the entire pricing engine, and the theme is honest that the rates are editable content rather than a hidden system.

  • 02

The estimate is shown as a range, never a single figure, because access, floor and exact volume genuinely vary. False precision is the specific dishonesty this trade is known for, and the range refuses it.

  • 03

“Estimate, not quotation” is stated on the tool itself, under the result, alongside exactly what it excludes — floors without a lift, long carries, dismantling, tolls, storage. The survey is named as the step that makes a figure firm.

  • 04

Separates included basic cover from real transit insurance on declared value, and states plainly that basic cover pays a fraction of an item's worth. “Fully insured” as a hollow phrase is the second-commonest complaint in the trade.

  • 05

Puts the three surprise charges — packing material, storage, dismantling — as visible, tickable add-ons on the calculator rather than as surcharges that appear on moving day.

  • 06

Locking a quote converts the exact selection into a prefilled WhatsApp message with route, size, add-ons and the range written out, so an estimate becomes a qualified lead on the same path the rest of the site uses.

  • 07

Office relocation is deliberately excluded from self-estimation, with the reason given: IT, timing and reassembly vary too much to band honestly. Refusing to estimate something is itself a credibility signal.

  • 08

Deep logistics navy with a single warm amber reserved for action, at radius 10 and 1.1 density — the only landing theme in the set that opens on an interactive tool rather than a wall of copy.

How it’s built

The specifics matter because they determine what the site costs to run, how fast it is, and whether you can move it later.

Stack
Next.js 16 App Router, React 19, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS v4
Rendering
Fully static export — every route is prerendered HTML, independently crawlable
JavaScript
No animation or UI library. Design tokens applied as scoped CSS custom properties
Accessibility
Semantic landmarks, labelled controls, visible focus, prefers-reduced-motion honoured
Hosting
Deploys to any static host including cPanel shared hosting — no Node runtime required

Suited to

  • Packers and movers and relocation companies
  • Local and intercity moving operators
  • Movers who also offer storage and warehousing
  • Any mover whose leads stall on “send me a quote” with no starting figure

What it doesn’t include

Stated up front rather than discovered later.

  • All rates, size multipliers, add-on prices and the ± spread are sample data and must be replaced with the mover's own costed figures. A wrong multiplier produces confidently wrong estimates, so this is the first thing to set before going live.
  • This is a static site. There is no admin login, no database, and no server-side leads inbox — those need the SaaS layer (see docs/06-SAAS-LAYER.md), which is a separate product with a backend. Rates and content are edited in this theme definition, and leads arrive over WhatsApp and the PHP lead endpoint, not into a dashboard.
  • The estimator cannot look up real road distance, so it uses distance bands the customer selects rather than a live map lookup. Guessing a distance would be dishonest and banding is the correct trade-off for a static build.
  • A firm quote still requires a human survey. The tool is a lead qualifier and expectation-setter, not a replacement for surveying the goods.
  • Fleet, packing and crew photography is the biggest visual upgrade available to this theme and is not included. Use the mover's own images.
  • Built on RootPro's theme engine: 5 routes, with this theme's own palette, typefaces, card anatomy and layout variants.
